Dr. Hassan draws from her years of experience and speciality training to address issues affecting horse performance.
"I spent years just seeing lame horses all day"
She will assess your horse and give you options for treatments which will include many different modalities.
"My passion is lameness and performance issues. It can be a complicated puzzle since each horse is different. I'm fascinated by a horse's ability to compensate and subsequently challenged to address those compensatory issues. Sometimes the lame left front foot is just part of an overall issue in the horse. When one foot is sore especially if there is any chronicity, multiple muscle groups are also affected in compensation. This is where the acupuncture comes in."
Acupuncture and eastern medicine are currently being extensively researched and are becoming more and more integrated. Several veterinary schools have eastern medicine and chiropractic as part of their curriculum.
"Right out of school was exposed to acupuncture and I saw that it worked, although I was very skeptical. I approach things as a science based, licensed, medical professional. It is not my business to jump off into the abyss. I stay firmly rooted in science."
"The addition of eastern medicine to my practice is so exciting for me. I can now help those horses with subtle issues of stiffness, reluctance, one sidedness or who are just not right. Those horses who were described as having "behavioral" or "training" problems are horses I routinely improve!"
